Let Me Tell You About My Friends

I have some of the nicest people to call friends.

Things quite literally were falling apart for me at the studio the end of this week.  First, I went in late on Thursday afternoon to work and my wheel didn't work.  It was plugged in and turned on, but when I pressed the pedal...a whole lot of nothing.  It was FINE last time I used it.  I tried very hard to be a big girl about things - with somewhat limited success I must add.  I moved my stuff over to a different wheel and did what I needed to do which was a few mugs and some bowls.  When I was done, I left Allen a note asking who one called when a wheel stopped working.

On Friday about lunchtime when I got back, this is what I found.
That's Ronnie Blackburn working on the petal.  He showed me what he knew to look for and we tried to find an allen wrench small enough to fit the little thing that needed to be tightened.  We weren't successful on that - the smallest one we had was just a little too large.  BUT after he was done tinkering with it, the thing worked.  I did find a smaller allen wrench at the hardware store down the street, but I'm not messing with the thing until the wheel stops working again.

Gail Richard was sweet enough to take all the dirty towels and all our aprons to her house to wash them Friday night.  My apron is old.  It was a Christmas gift from my sister in 2007.  This apron gets worn every time I work and the neck strap was in pretty bad shape.  It came completely apart when Gail washed it. I knew that was coming, so Saturday morning when she said, "Your apron has a slight mishap in the wash," I really wasn't all that surprised.  But she felt so badly about what happened that she fixed it for me by replacing the strap.  Good as new!  Better in fact since I don't have to break in a new apron now.
Neither of these friends have an abundance of free time right now and they both went out of their way to help me do something that I could not have done by myself.  I'm not sure that I can adequately express my gratitude.  All I can do is try to pay it forward (and back) some day.

I also made some pots...
Large lidded jars
